Major Research Initiatives of the Child Study Center

A key means of promoting the research goals of the CSC is the establishment of initiatives that provide a nexus of common interests for faculty affiliates. In Fall 2003, three initiatives were instituted: Early Pathways to Competence; Parenting At Risk; and School Readiness. Starting in Fall 2006, we have added a fourth initiative on Human Developmental Neuroscience. Each is led by a CSC faculty member with an established research record and international visibility. Each has a number of federally funded research projects ongoing as new projects are being developed. As of May 2006, there are 31CSC faculty affiliates from 4 different departments, including Human Development and Family Studies, Educational and School Psychology and Special Education, and Communication Science and Disorders. Each initiative has a set of core faculty members who have committed time and effort to participating in initiative activities. The core faculty for two of the three initiatives meets bi-weekly. The ongoing activities of the CSC are listed below, organized by initiative, and linked to additional information.
