The Child Study Center at Penn State is dedicated to promoting children's development through research and practice. We are a research and training center whose focus is to gain knowledge about children's typical and atypical development as it relates to our major research initiatives. The Child Study Center, as part of the Department of Psychology in the College of the Liberal Arts, currently houses 6 major NIH-funded research projects and an NIH funded Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) research training program. Our affiliations with both state and local organizations enable us to bridge the gap between research and practice by providing expertise to state and community offices, agencies, and policy makers.
In all of our activities, we at the Child Study Center integrate knowledge and questions about basic development with knowledge and questions about the different and sometimes difficult developmental pathways that some children face.
