Message from the Director

Welcome to the web site for the Child Study Center at Penn State. The CSC is an active and exciting venture whose mission is to integrate diverse scientific approaches to understanding children and families with respect to four major initiatives: Early Pathways to Competence, Parenting at Risk, School Readiness, and Developmental Neuroscience. Across these initiatives, the CSC conducts research while offering outreach consultation to the community at large. The CSC is also a rich training environment for graduate and undergraduate students in Psychology and related disciplines.

We have a wealth of outstanding faculty affiliates from a variety of departments and colleges at Penn State who actively participate in the development of innovative projects that address the Center's major initiatives. Likewise, we have a talented core of superb graduate students from Child Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Human Development and Family Studies that are actively involved in the Center's efforts. A NIMH Training Grant in Early Childhood Mental Health helps to support our cross-disciplinary training mission. Our affiliations with the community and the commonwealth also offer numerous opportunities to promote child and family well-being.

We encourage you to explore our site and learn more about the initiatives and the ongoing activities of the Child Study Center. We are hopeful that you will find this site informative, as well as easy to navigate. We welcome inquiries, and we encourage your feedback. Thanks for your interest.
