Welcome to the Child Study Center

The Child Study Center is one of the Centers of Excellence in Penn State University’s Children, Youth, and Families Consortium and is housed in the Department of Psychology in the College of the Liberal Arts.  We are dedicated to promoting children's development and well-being through the dynamic integration of research, undergraduate and graduate training, and engaged community outreach.

Currently, the CSC supports 4 interdisciplinary research initiatives, 9 major externally-funded research projects, 2 federally-funded graduate training programs, and a professional training institute, creating a unique and vibrant interdisciplinary community committed to the shared mission of harnessing the power of developmental science to improve children’s lives.

Collaborative community-university partnerships facilitate connections across the state, in particular via links with the Community and University Partnership at the Penn State York Campus  and the Harrisburg Center for Healthy Child Development.  The CSC also works in tandem with the Penn State Psychological Clinic to support professional development and promote the accessibility of empirically-supported best practices in the promotion of child and adolescent development, well-being and mental health intervention.
